  2. A deposit check made payable to the NHSO;
  3. An updated resume (including dates of experience).

If you do not notify us of cancellation and you do not appear for the audition, then your unclaimed check will be cashed. This system is designed to minimize no-shows. Music may be obtained from your local music dealer or by calling either Kalmus Music Co. at 800-434-6340 or Luck’s Music at 800-348-8749. Contract Information
In addition to its Six Classics Series concerts, the NHSO produces four Pops series, a Young People’s Series, outdoor concerts in the summer, and other special concerts and educational services. Rehearsals are usually held on consecutive weekday (and some Sunday) evenings, averaging three or four rehearsals per Symphony Series. Concerts are usually on Thursday nights. The pay for Section players is $110.00 per service. The NHSO is a per service orchestra.

In addition, there is a travel pay allowance for players living more than 15 miles from New Haven (maximum of $35 per day). Newly contracted players are offered available series for the remainder of the season. For the 2017-18 season, there may be up to 40 services offered. Some Classics series and Pops series use reduced numbers of players and may not be offered to all contracted players.

If a current member of the NHSO wins a position, then an alternate position may also be offered. The substitute list may be updated with results from any audition. To perform with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, you need to belong to your local musicians’ union (A. F. of M.). If you are offered more than 6 services within a year you must join local 400, even if you are a member of another local.
