Marketing Internship

Marketing interns work directly with the NHSO’s Marketing Director. This is a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in non-profit arts marketing.

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will assist the Marketing Director with:

  • Implementation of company-wide strategic plan
  • Promotion of events through online community calendars, group sales and other PR opportunities
  • Strategy and generation of content for social media posts
  • Website development and maintenance
  • Writing and distribution of press releases
  • Analysis of press coverage
  • Event management at Symphony concerts and programs

Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and creative skills are required, as is the ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Seeking applicant with strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Experience with InDesign and/or video editing preferred.
  • Knowledge of classical music and orchestral performance practices is preferred. Passion for music, music education and/or the arts is required.
  • Must have high school diploma
  • Applicants seeking internship for college credit preferred

Development Internship

This internship is the perfect opportunity for a student interested in a career in either development (fundraising) or arts administration.

Responsibilities

  • Working with NHSO customer relationship management (CRM) system to streamline and segment data. CRMs are essential tools for fundraising, but need to managed effectively. Student will participate in analysis of current data and help customize a strategy for efficient and effective fundraising using a CRM.
  • Fundraising support
  • Supporting development staff at fundraising events

Qualifications

Excellent people skills and computer skills are essential. Experience working on the internet, research, written and oral communication skills, organizational skills and attention to detail are important. Needs to be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Prefer music, art, drama, marketing, and business majors.
