The NHSO’s tribute to the genius of Mozart continues this month with works penned early in his illustrious career. William Boughton conducts on Thursday, March 22, 7:30pm, at Woolsey Hall and Sunday, March 25, 3:00pm at Shelton Intermediate. The program includes the beautiful Concerto for Flute, Harp, and Orchestra featuring the NHSO’s own Adrianne Greenbaum and Jennifer Hoult, Divertimento in F Major, and the charming yet sultry Symphony no. 29.

The Concerto for Flute, Harp, and Orchestra is one of only two double-concerti Mozart wrote and the only concerto Mozart wrote that includes harp. As is typical for Mozart, he didn’t include any written cadenzas. Audiences will be delighted by cadenzas written especially for this performance by Ms. Greenbaum and Ms. Hoult. Symphony no. 29, combining impetuosity and charm with passion and fire, is one of the most performed of his early works.

ADRIANNE GREENBAUM is a nationally-acclaimed classical and klezmer flutist. She has appeared in all of New York’s major concert halls and has held faculty positions at Wesleyan, Yale, Smith, and is currently professor of flute at Mount Holyoke. Ms. Greenbaum holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Yale School of Music. During the 2011-12 season she is completing a commissioned work for flute and guitar that blends classical and klezmer elements. She has been a member of the NHSO since 1979 and currently serves as Principal Flutist.

JENNIFER HOULT has appeared as soloist with the Trenton and New Bedford symphonies, the Manhattan Philharmonic, and the American Chamber Orchestra. In addition to her work on television, radio and in workshops, she has performed with the American Symphony Orchestra, Bridgeport Symphony, Concordia, New York Philharmonic, and New York Pops. Ms. Hoult has been heard on Broadway in 110 in the Shade, 1776, and A Christmas Carol and on recordings with artists as diverse as Nathan Lane, Mandy Patinkin, and Dawn Upshaw. Her two solo CDs, The Eve of Christmas and Golden Quadrilateral have received critical acclaim. She holds degrees in harp from Manhattan School of Music. Ms. Hoult has been a member of the NHSO since 1989 and currently serves as Principal Harpist.
