NHSO TO TAKE AUDIENCES ON A MUSICAL SLEIGH RIDE OF CHRISTMAS CAROLS AND HOLIDAY FAVORITES DECEMBER 13 & 14

Principal Pops Conductor Chelsea Tipton to Lead Festive “Home for the Holidays” Program in Hamden & Shelton

The New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) will “Deck the Halls” of Hamden and Shelton with festive seasonal music at Home for the Holidays on Saturday, December 13 at 2:30pm at Hamden Middle School and Sunday, December 14 at 3:00pm at Shelton Intermediate School. Led by NHSO principal pops conductor Chelsea Tipton, the program will feature such holiday favorites as “Winter Wonderland,” “Sleigh Ride,” and “Greensleeves;” a Christmas carol sing along; and “O Holy Night” featuring Yale Opera alumna Kelly Hill.

American conductor Chelsea Tipton, II has won over audiences and critics alike with his vibrant musicality, accessibility, versatility and extraordinary commitment to education. As a sought after guest conductor, Chelsea has appeared with numerous major orchestras in the U.S., including Cleveland, Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Houston, and Atlanta, among others. During the summer of 2011, he was part of an extensive European tour with pop artist Sting that took him to 15 countries and to work with 19 different European orchestras.

Mezzo soprano Kelly Hill recently graduated with a Master’s Degree and Artist Diploma from the Yale School of Music. She most recently appeared with the NHSO in their November 2014 production of Puccini’s Suor Angelica. Previously, she has appeared with the Yale Baroque Opera Project, Cedar Rapids Opera Theater, Central City Opera, Santa Fe Opera, and the Aspen Music School and Festival. Kelly is a native of Iowa and received her Bachelors of Music degree from the University of Northern Iowa.

Tickets:  Single Tickets are $35 or $49. Student tickets are $10 and KidTix (children ages 7-17) are free with the purchase of an adult ticket.
