Water, Water, Everywhere!

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

Camp Laurelwood, Madison 6-8pm

For ages 5-12

FREE!

Bring all the little ones plus Dad, Aunt Sally and Grandma too!  The New Haven Symphony Orchestra Woodwind Quintet will take listeners on an imaginative journey from Handel’s “Water Music,” to traditional pirate Sea Shanties.  Everyone will have opportunities to participate in the fun, sing along with the ensemble, and even try the instruments!

Following a brief intermission, the quintet will perform ‘A Little More Water Music’ featuring works by Arnold, Handel, Debussy and more— a program which is sure to delight the senses.

Sponsored by: Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven

An innovative feature of these performances is an audience play-a-long. Instrumentalists young and old will be able to download copies of three well known works: The Star Spangled, America the Beautiful, and the Pomp and Circumstance March, rehearse their parts, and bring their instrument, music and music stand to the concert that night.

Towards the end of the concert "community performers" will be invited to play-a-long with the NHSO (with a little coaching by NHSO Music Director William Boughton).

To request music ahead of time please click this link to send an email request. PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR NAME AND INSTRUMENT THAT YOU PLAY.
