Music on the Green Moves Indoors to Shubert Theater

NEW HAVEN, July 18, 2013 – As a result of the recent heat wave, the location of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) performance of Dueling Divas, part of Music on the Green presented by Yale-New Haven Hospital, scheduled for Saturday, July 20, 2013 will be changed from the New Haven Green to the Shubert Theater, located on 247 College Street in downtown New Haven, CT.  The Mariachi Academy of Connecticut will open the show at 6:00pm, followed by the NHSO at 7:00pm.

“We are delighted to welcome the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and concert goers to the Shubert Theater,” said John Fisher, Executive Director, Shubert Theater

“The safety of our audience is first and foremost, and the air-conditioned Shubert Theater will comfortably accommodate all those who were planning to attend Dueling Divas on the New Haven Green. Though the performance won’t take place outside, our musicians and warring sopranos will bring the same sense of magic and romance to the stage,” said William Boughton, Music Director of the NHSO.

The performance is still free and open to the public, and seats will be offered on a first come, first serve basis.  The NHSO will be also be hosting their “Instrumental Petting Zoo” at the Shubert Theater, and partnering with New Haven Reads to provide books and indoor activities for children.

Park New Haven is offering parking in the Crown Street and Temple Street Garages for $3 during the concerts.
