NHSO and Local Composer Stacey Rose Present an Inside Look at a New Concerto

New Haven, CT August 13, 2010: Join the New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) and Music Director William Boughton on Sunday, September 12, 3:00pm, at Sprague Hall, Yale University for the world premiere of Raisons d’Etre—A New Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, featuring Branford pianist and composer Stacey Rose.

This unique concert event gives an inside look into the process of creating and presenting a new piano concerto composed and performed by pianist and composer Stacey Rose. Presented in the format of a discussion, rehearsal, and premiere performance, Rose—together with Maestro Boughton and the NHSO—will debut Raisons d’Être for solo piano and fifty-piece symphony orchestra to the New Haven Community.

Captivating audiences across the world with her unique combination of virtuosity, beauty of tone, and musical sincerity, Stacey Rose projects true magnetism on today’s music stage. Ms. Rose received a B.A. degree from Stanford University, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Piano Performance from The Mannes School of Music. She has represented Steinway pianos as a Steinway Artist since 1992. In recent concert seasons, Ms. Rose performed as soloist with orchestras in the United States, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Korea, South America, Russia, Ukraine, and the Republic of Georgia, often premiering new repertoire in these countries.

As part of its ongoing commitment to the education of young people in the community, the NHSO will be offering free admission to youths 17 and under.
