SUMMARY:Young Composer Project: 2023 Cohort Final Recital
DESCRIPTION:The Young Composer Project is an amazing opportunity for a small group of statewide high school students to study in a cohort-style setting with the NHSO’s current Composer-in-Residence\, Joel Thompson. This unique\, nationally recognized program has produced a 100% acceptance rate to college composition programs. Students attend monthly sessions\, get back-stage access to NHSO rehearsals\, and receive free tickets to every NHSO concert. The Final Recital is the culminating event of the students’ work: a performance and recording of their original music by NHSO musicians. \nThis concert is free admission and open to the public! It will take place in The Sandbox\, located at the Greater New Haven Arts Council in downtown New Haven. \n\nJoin us for the annual Young Composer’s Project recital to hear string and wind chamber music written by our 2023 cohort: \nPhoenix Geyser\nMichaela Nunez\nGabriel Fulton\nFareed Samu\nLiam Melvin\nDean Paglino \nplayed by NHSO musicians including: violinist Gregory Tomkins\, violist Ellen Higham\, and clarinetist Kelli O’Connor.
