The New Haven Symphony Orchestra celebrates its 127th season in a time of unprecedented change and challenges. This year’s gala will recognize the perseverance and innovations of the orchestra from the past year.

This year we encourage you to attend the gala virtually from home. The event will be broadcast live from The Woodwinds and will include a variety of interactive social experiences as well as artistic performances.

2021 Wattles Awardee: Burton Alter, an admired leader among New Haven’s not-for-profit boards and an influential thought leader at national advocacy organizations, primarily in orchestral music and music education. The Wattles Award, named for Gurdon and Kathy Wattles, is the highest recognition provided by the New Haven Symphony Orchestra.

We will also celebrate our foundational values with the “NHSO Quartet Awards:”

Education: New Haven Free Public Librarians and Community Leaders: Diane Brown, Branch Manager & Xia Feng, Former Deputy Director
History: Helen Hagan, composer and pianist
Innovation: Yale School of Public Health, represented by Dean Sten H. Vermund, MD, PhD
