NHSO Executive Director to Step Down

New Haven, CT February 14, 2011: It was announced today by New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) Board President William S. Gedge that Natalie Forbes, Executive Director of the NHSO has tendered her resignation effective May 31, 2011.

In her six year tenure with the NHSO, Ms. Forbes has achieved many milestones including, establishing the Family Concert Series, envisioning and producing the inaugural Connecticut Youth Orchestra Festival, launching a new website, introducing the patron services initiative and establishing the in-house box office, building strategic partnerships throughout the region, exceeding targets each year with grants and foundations, participating and leading the Institutional Vision Program with the League of American Orchestras, the Walton CD, the orchestra’s participation in the Miramax film Everybody’sFine, and launching several new fundraising events such as Women of Note, the Valentine Cabaret, the Annual Wine Tasting, and the upcoming “Run for the Music.”

Of Ms. Forbes’s work with the NHSO Mr. Gedge noted, “The Board of Directors sincerely appreciates all of Natalie’s expertise and guidance through one of the most turbulent times for American orchestras and we wish her well in her future endeavors.”

Ms. Forbes stated, “It has been my privilege to serve as Executive Director of the NHSO this past six years and I wish the Board, community, musicians, staff, Music Director William Boughton, and the incoming Executive Director continued success in the stewardship of the NHSO as a vibrant community resource.

A Search Committee will be formed presently to identify her successor.
