Run for the Music

New Haven, CT, March 17, 2011: The NHSO is pleased to announce the first annual New Haven Symphony Run for the Music presented by New Haven Register. This special event, benefiting the orchestra’s education and community engagement programs, takes place Sunday, May 15, 9:00am at the College Woods Pavilion at East Rock Park, New Haven.

The Run for the Music benefits the NHSO’s education and community engagement programs which strive to engage, inspire, and educate through music. Each year the NHSO touches the lives of over 30,000 young people and life-long learners.

Participants will enjoy a number of school pep bands playing along the race course. Complimentary food and beverage, along with giant inflatables, and other family friendly activities will be available to all participants. Awards will be given to the top three 5K finishers in each division (men’s and women’s), the largest pre-registered group, as well as prizes for the top fundraiser.

Advanced registration for this event is strongly encouraged. Online registration is available until May 13 at www.jbsports.com. Race day registration will be held from 7:30-8:45am. Register early and save. The 5K kicks off at 9:00am, followed immediately by the start of Kids’ Run at 10:00am.

The 5K Certified Run/Walk takes runners through picturesque East Rock Park passing historic homes on Livingston and Everit Streets. Water will be provided along the course. Runners will be given split times at the 1 and 2 mile marks.

The ½ mile noncompetitive Kids’ Run loops around New Haven’s beloved and lush East Rock Park. Ribbons will be awarded to all finishers in the Kids’ Run.

Registration is now open. All pre-registered runners will receive an official Run for the Music T-shirt and runner/walker number. Advanced registration for this event is strongly encouraged.
