Alasdair Neale’s debut concert celebrates classical music’s legacy while ushering in its next generation. The soaring, luscious melodies of Rachmaninoff’s Second Symphony will pair with Michael Abels’s (soundtrack composer for Get Out and Us) Concerto for String Quartet and Orchestra, Delights and Dances. The concert will open with the Star Spangled Banner, along with Jessie Montgomery’s Banner, her tribute to the tradition and contradictions of the U.S. national anthem. The Catalyst Quartet, described by the NY Times as “invariably energetic and finely burnished,” combines a serious commitment to diversity and education with a passion for contemporary music.
