Chelsea Tipton to Conduct NHSO Season Finale: The Music of John Williams

They will all be part of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra’s season finale, a three-city tour of The Music of John Williams. NHSO Principal Pops conductor Chelsea Tipton will led the NHSO in this fun, family-friendly program of John Williams’ movie music on Thursday, June 2 at 7:30pm at the Shubert Theater; Saturday, June 4 at 2:30pm at Hamden Middle School; and Sunday, June 5 at 3:00pm at Shelton Intermediate School.

Star Wars, Jurassic Park, E.T., Harry Potter… arguably the most influential composer of the film industry, John Williams has been awarded 22 Grammys, five Academy Awards, and four Golden Globes for his memorable movie themes. This program will include his most popular soundtracks from the silver screen, including music from E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial; Jaws; Jurassic Park; Saving Private Ryan; Indiana Jones; Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone; Star Wars and Star Wars: The Force Awakens; Superman, and more.

Audience members are encouraged to wear costumes and dress as their favorite characters from these movies. On the June 2 performance at the Shubert Theater, there will be costumed characters from many of the movies featured on the program to greet audience members in the lobby and to aid Maestro Tipton with the performance.

American conductor Chelsea Tipton, II has won over audiences and critics alike with his vibrant musicality, accessibility, versatility and extraordinary commitment to education. As a sought after guest conductor, Chelsea has appeared with numerous major orchestras in the U.S., including Cleveland, Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburg, Houston and Atlanta, among others. During the summer of 2011, he was part of an extensive European tour with pop artist Sting that took him to 15 countries with 19 different European orchestras.
