New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) principal pops conductor Chelsea Tipton will open this season’s Pops Series with show stoppers from the “Great White Way” at Music of the Night on Saturday, November 5 at 2:30pm at Hamden Middle School and Sunday, November 6 at 3:00pm at Shelton High School. This family-friendly program will include music from Jersey Boys, West Side Story, Oklahoma, Phantom of the Opera, Jekyll & Hyde, Into the Woods, Frozen, Guys and Dolls, Drowsy Chaperone, and Les Miserables.
Chelsea Tipton says, “Music has a way of bringing people together and I am ecstatic to welcome Connor to our series. Broadway is one of my favorite musical genres, and I am particularly excited to perform some spectacular music from Les Miserables!”
Tenor Connor Bogart has toured the U.S. and along with his band, has performed as the opening act on over 20 national tours including Hall & Oates, Edwin McCain, and Huey Lewis and The News. Connor has been a featured soloist with the National Repertory Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic, Akron Symphony, Cleveland Pops, Firelands Symphony, and Cleveland Orchestra. Before becoming a Broadway vocalist, Connor was a classical violinist and studied opera at the Eastman School of Music in New York.
American conductor Chelsea Tipton, II has won over audiences and critics alike with his vibrant musicality, accessibility, versatility and extraordinary commitment to education. As a sought after guest conductor, Chelsea has appeared with numerous major orchestras in the U.S., including Cleveland, Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburg, Houston and Atlanta, among others. During the summer of 2011, he was part of an extensive European tour with pop artist Sting that took him to 15 countries with 19 European orchestras.
