Violinist Ani Kavafian continues her Mozart Violin Concertos Project with Mozart’s Turkish Concerto, soprano Hana Park and the Chamber Singers of the Fairfield County Children’s Choir combine for Music Alive Composer-in-Residence Augusta Read Thomas’ Daylight Divine and the program concludes with Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3 “Scottish.” Encore Performance: Sunday, December 5, 3:00pm, Shelton Intermediate School.
Ani Kavafian enjoys a prolific career as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. She has performed with virtually all of America’s leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, and many others. Her numerous solo recital engagements include performances at New York’s Carnegie and Alice Tully Halls, as well as in major venues across the country. Ms. Kavafian is also Professor of Violin at Yale University.
Recently profiled in Opera News, soprano Hana Park is recognized in the United States as a fresh new talent on the rise. In the 2009—10 season she sang Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy with the Cincinnati May Festival, and the title role in Mozart’s Zaide with Wolf Trap Opera. Upcoming appearances include performances with the Lousivulle Orchestra, the Handel Oratorio Society-Augustana College, the Cincinatti May Festival and the Gotham Chamber Opera in New York.
The Fairfield County Children’s Choir (FCCC) is a community-based choral program made up of over 300 children from Fairfield County and beyond. The FCCC was founded in 1995 to provide the opportunity to participate in a musical experience which is challenging, rewarding and enjoyable. The FCCC program provides instruction in vocal and choral technique, music literacy and the appreciation of music through the practice and performance of great choral repertoire.
