The New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) will celebrate 130 years of artistry, education, history and innovation at its gala fundraiser “Melodies & Mimosas” on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at The WoodWinds in Branford, CT. The festive event will include a decadent brunch, bottomless mimosas, live music, a raffle, and more. The orchestra will present the 2024 Wattles and Quartet awards to community partners and heroes:
- 2024 Wattles Award: NHSO Board President Keith B. Churchwell, MD
- Artistic Excellence: Former NHSO Concertmaster Ani Kavafian
- Educational Excellence: Leadership Training and Scholarship Fund New Haven Promise
- Historical Impact: Free Youth Enrichment Program ARTE
- Excellence in Innovation: Community Organizer and Advocate Honda Smith
“We are excited to raise a glass and celebrate the music, musicians, educators, and change-makers that enrich our vibrant community,” says NHSO CEO Elaine C. Carroll. “This event is vital in helping us sustain the NHSO’s vision to inspire, delight, challenge, and connect diverse audiences and communities through the power of live music.
