New Haven, CT December 16, 2010: An evening of romantic hits and Broadway favorites awaits lovers of all ages when the New Haven Symphony Orchestra’s (NHSO) Associate Conductor Gerald Steichen hosts A Valentine Cabaret Dinner, Sunday, February 13, 4:30pm at the Grassy Hill Lodge, Derby. All proceeds support the NHSO’s concerts and education programs in the Naugatuck Valley.
Jerry will lead you on a musical journey of love songs from contemporary hits to Broadway favorites from the Broadway stage with Jim Weitzer and Susan Owen both stars of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Broadway production The Phantom of the Opera. Dinner will include hors d’oeurves, a choice of three delicious entrees and a Valentine dessert.
The NHSO has a longstanding commitment to providing quality music to the Naugatuck Valley region. The NHSO currently presents classical, pops and family concerts at the Shelton Intermediate School. In addition the NHSO’s education programs have enhanced the concert experience and supported music education in the Naugatuck Valley. Past presentations include interactive family concerts at Jones Family Farm and Young People’s Concerts with the entire orchestra.
The 2010-2011 season marks Gerald Steichen’s thirteenth season as Associate Conductor of the NHSO. He also serves as Music Director of the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra and the Principal Pops Conductor of the Utah Symphony. Steichen most recently made his debut with the Cincinnati Pops, conducting their July 4th concert at Riverbend Music Center. He will debut this season with the Naples Philharmonic in Florida. Steichen has also nappeared with the Boston Pops, the Florida Orchestra, the New York Pops.
