New Haven, CT (August 22, 2013): The New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) today announced a generous sponsorship from the First Niagara Foundation (First Niagara) in support of their School Night at the Symphony program.
This season, School Night at the Symphony will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Woolsey Hall in New Haven, when the NHSO performs The Princess & The Firebird. This evening of incandescent ballet music from Russia and France brings Stravinsky’s Firebird, Delibes’s dancing doll, and Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty to life.
Thanks, in part, to the generosity of First Niagara, all students, faculty and staff from schools in the greater New Haven area will be granted free admission to an evening of exciting music with the NHSO.
“It is important that we make orchestral music accessible to our entire community,” says NHSO Executive Director Elaine Carroll, “School Night at the Symphony presents a perfect opportunity to meet new listeners, and we are deeply grateful to First Niagara for their support of this program.”
Last season, over 600 children and their families participated in School Night at the Symphony, many of whom were attending a live classical music event for the first time.
“First Niagara is a strong supporter of educational initiatives in the community, and that of course includes programming for art and music,” said First Niagara New England Regional President David Ring. “We’re thrilled to play a part in providing greater New Haven families with free access to an evening of classical music.”
