THE “TWO WILLIAMS”

NEW HAVEN, CT, August 18, 2009 The New Haven Symphony Orchestra presents a movie premiere of Director Tony Palmer’s film At the Haunted End of the Day, the story of acclaimed English composer William Walton, Thursday, September 10, 2009, beginning at 5:30pm.

Join Music Director William Boughton for this fundraising event in support of the NHSO’s Walton Recording Project. Patrons will enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at Ciao Bella Moda International at 5:30pm (with Raffle drawing at 6:45pm). At 7:00pm all ticketholders are invited for dessert and silent auction at the Madison Art Cinemas followed by the showing of At the Haunted End of the Day at 8:00pm.

Patron ($50 each) and Event ($35 each) tickets are available for purchase through the NHSO Box Office (203.865.0831), and the following stores in Madison – bellaPerlina, Ciao Bella Moda International, Jolie Boutique, Madison Art Cinemas, and Savvy Tea Gourmet.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the NHSO’s Walton Recording Project, a 3-CD recording featuring Walton’s symphonic works with original manuscripts accessed through Yale University Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. The first CD, scheduled for international release in Spring 2010 under international record label Nimbus Records, includes Walton’s Symphony No. 1 (recorded May 2009) and his Violin Concerto, to be recorded live at the NHSO’s opening night concert, Celebrate 116, September 17, 2009, 7:30pm at Woolsey Hall, featuring renowned violinist and Hartford native, Kurt Nikkanen.
