FIDDLE FADDLE

NEW HAVEN, CT, August 20, 2009. Is it a violin or a fiddle? Join members of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) and special guest artists for the first performance of our 2009-10 Family Concert series, Fiddle Faddle, Saturday, September 26, 2009, at Jones Family Farm in Shelton with performances from 12-1 pm and 2-3pm.

Fiddling and singing duo, Paula Bradley and Bill Dillof of Moonshine Holler, will take you on a journey of American fiddling traditions both old and new, accompanied by NHSO bassist Jim Andrews. Children will sing, dance, and clap their way through this fun-filled experience. As the program nears its close, we will meet the modern violin, leading lady of the 21st century symphony orchestra, and hear the astounding beauty of its sound world, as played by the NHSO Assistant Concertmaster Artemis Simerson. Truly a program to remember for young and old!

Tickets to this exciting event are $15 (adults), $12 (seniors) and $5 (children). Boxed lunches of seasonal salads and treats are available for an additional $10. To purchase tickets contact the NHSO Box Office at 203-865-0831 or visit newhavensymphony.org.

After the concert, enjoy Jones Family Farm’s pumpkin preview season including hayrides and pumpkin picking on Pumpkinseed Hill. In addition, parents can enjoy the ongoing wine tastings throughout the day. Additional fees apply.
Paula Bradley and Bill Dillof (Moonshine Holler) perform old-time music of southern mountains on fiddle, banjo, guitar harmonica, Hawaiian guitar and banjo ukulele, with harmony singing and flatfoot clod dancing! Combining their talents and performing experience into a multi-instrumental engaging duet, their spirited renditions of Carter Family classics, ballads, hillbilly blue, minstrel ditties and fiddle tunes are sure-fire crowd pleasers.

These performances are made possible through the generous support of AT&T.
