New Haven, CT (October 28, 2013): The New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) is honored to be receiving the Annual Award for Commitment from the New Haven Community Soup Kitchen.  The award will be presented at the Community Soup Kitchen’s Annual Meeting on Thursday, November 14.

The Community Soup Kitchen has been in the business of feeding hungry people since 1977, during which time they have provided over 1.6 million free meals to those in need.  Over the years, their Annual Meetings have recognized the generosity of people, businesses, and organizations throughout the greater New Haven area that have made extraordinary efforts to help achieve their goal of feeding every person who comes to their door.

This year’s award is given in great appreciation to the NHSO for its commitment to nourishing the hungry in partnership with the Community Soup Kitchen, while nourishing the soul of the region through music.

“It is important for organizations like the New Haven Symphony to give back to their cities, where there are essential needs,” says NHSO Executive Director Elaine Carroll, “We are thrilled to have established such a meaningful partnership with the New Haven Community Soup Kitchen under the leadership of Board President David Crotta.”

Says Mr. Crotta, “While we would like to go out of business for lack of work, it is a pleasure to have such a generous partner in the community as the NHSO to help us meet the needs of the hungry people of New Haven.”
