NHSO Song Writing Contest

Wednesday • May 20, 2020

Your Symphony is hosting a songwriting competition!

Requirements
Submit a song about:

•    Celebrating the heroism of front-line workers during COVID-19.
•    Social justice issues that became even MORE apparent during the pandemic.
•    What you would like to see change in the future after this pandemic is over?

Your piece can be in any genre of your choosing (pop, jazz, classical, etc.). It can have lyrics, or be purely instrumental. Feel free to work in groups, classes or alone. Pieces do not have to be in traditional western notation– a recording of you singing/playing will be adequate.

Send completed songs/compositions to NHSO Education Director Caitlin Daly-Gonzales at Education@NewHavenSymphony.org by 5pm on June 20th, 2020.

The winning song will be orchestrated by award-winning composer Bert Dovo and the new work will be performed by the New Haven Symphony as a tribute to front line workers on our first concert next season. The winner will receive free tickets to attend the concert with their family, recognition from the stage at Woolsey Hall, and an autographed copy of the orchestra score of their new work.
