Violinist Augustin Hadelich is widely regarded as one of the leading violinists of his generation, known for performances that combine technical brilliance with remarkable expressive depth. A Grammy Award winner, he appears regularly with the biggest orchestras around the world and is a frequent guest at leading international festivals.

Born in Italy to German parents, Hadelich began playing the violin at an early age and later studied at The Juilliard School. His career gained international attention following a series of major competition successes and continued to rise with his Grammy-winning recording of Henri Dutilleux’s Violin Concerto L’arbre des songes. Today, he is recognized not only for his concerto performances, but also for his interpretations of solo repertoire and chamber music. He performs on a 1723 Stradivarius violin.

The concert pairs Mendelssohn’s lyrical and enduring concerto with Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony, one of the composer’s most beloved works. Inspired by the natural world, the Pastoral reflects Beethoven’s lifelong connection to the countryside and stands as a cornerstone of the symphonic repertoire. The program opens with Raven Chacon’s Inscription, a contemporary work that reflects on land, memory, and presence, offering a modern and American perspective alongside the Beethoven Symphony.

This concert is sponsored by the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and Frontier.
