Thousands of students have heard an orchestra for the first time at the NHSO’s Young People’s Concerts! These programs are designed for students ages 8-11, and they are free and open to the public this year at venues in New Haven and Shelton.
At this concert, you will hear all of the different, amazing sounds an orchestra can make, from historic composers like Felix Mendelssohn and Giacomo Rossini, up to living composers of today, like Jessie Montgomery and Gabriella Lena Frank.
Giacomo Rossini Overture to Barber of Seville
Jessie Montgomery Starburst
Bela Bartok Romanian Dances
Gabriella Lena Frank Leyandes: An Andean Walkabout (VI. Coqueteos)
Felix Mendelssohn Midsummer Night’s Dream (Scherzo)
Sergei Prokofiev Symphony No. 1 (IV)
New Haven Symphony Orchestra
Alasdair Neale, conductor & music director
You must register for your free tickets through the Symphony’s Box Office. You can register online using the button below or call (203) 787-4282 Monday-Friday from 12-5pm.
