The New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) will open the 2015 – 2016 Season with Dvorak, Grieg & Lash on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 7:30pm in Woolsey Hall. Led by NHSO music director William Boughton, the season will begin with Dvořák’s Seventh Symphony, Sibelius’ Swan of Tuonela, and the first installment of the NHSO’s newest commission, the Lash/Voynich Project, written by Yale faculty member and composer Hannah Lash. Concert highlights will also include NHSO New Generation Artist Michael Brown returning to the stage of Woolsey Hall for Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor.
The New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) Board of Directors has extended William Boughton’s contract as its principal conductor and music director until the end of the 2018-19 season, which will coincide with the orchestra’s 125th Anniversary Season.
The New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) is proud to announce that it has received a $50,000 special designation in the State of Connecticut’s FY16-17 budget signed on June 30. As a result of this funding the NHSO will offer free admission for adults and children to its 2016 and 2017 Family Concert Series. In addition, through the NHSO KidTix program children under the age of 18 may attend all NHSO concerts free of charge when accompanied by a paying adult.

The New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) will close the 2014 – 2015 Season with movie soundtracks that featured classical music at Cinematic Dances Thursday, May 28 at 7:30pm at the Shubert Theater, Saturday, May 30 at 2:30pm at Hamden Middle School and Sunday, May 31 at 3:00pm at Shelton Intermediate School. Led by NHSO music director William Boughton, the program will include Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, Bolero from Ten, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice from Disney’s Fantasia and Chaconne from The Red Violin, featuring guest violin soloist Bella Hristova.
