The New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) Board of Directors announces that the orchestra will not be performing the concerts as originally scheduled through May 2021.
For the first time since March, New Haven Symphony Orchestra musicians are gathering together in person to make music. On Sunday, October 18 and Saturday, October 24 at 2pm, musicians from the New Haven Symphony Orchestra will perform in small, socially-distant ensembles at the Canal Dock Boathouse on Long Wharf Drive in New Haven.
As a child, Aurora Mendez lived a mere train ride away from Carnegie Hall. From the age of four, she wanted to play violin — but there were few music programs for young students in the Bronx. Each month, her grandma sacrificed part of her social security check to help pay for Mendez’s classical violin lessons.
The NHSO will present a “pop-up” digital festival featuring musical performances by local celebrities to raise money and awareness for food insecurity in New Haven.
