  • NHSO and NMS Announce Collaborative Orchestral Student Fellowship

    Two of New Haven, Connecticut’s leading music institutions, the New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) and Neighborhood Music School (NMS), today announced the launch of a collaborative orchestral fellowship program for their community’s most talented high school music students. The program will provide selected members of NMS’s Greater New Haven Youth Orchestra with specialized learning and performance opportunities from the NHSO. Eight students will also receive full scholarships to participate in the NMS Youth Orchestra.

  • NEA Awards NHSO $20,000 for Lash/Voynich Project

    The New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) is proud to announce that it is a recipient of a $20,000 Art Works Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). The NHSO has received this award in response to its ground-breaking Lash/Voynich Project.

    The New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) will “Deck the Halls” of concert venues across Connecticut with Christmas carols and seasonal favorites at the 2015 Holiday Extravaganza Saturday, December 12 at 2:30pm at Hamden Middle School; Sunday, December 13 at 3:00pm at Shelton Intermediate School; Thursday, December 17 at 7:30pm at Woolsey Hall in New Haven; and Sunday, December 20 at 3:00pm at the Performing Arts Center at Middletown High School. NHSO Principal Pops Conductor Chelsea Tipton will lead the NHSO and guest baritone soloist Joshua Jeremiah in all four performance

  • NHSO Celebrates Veterans Day at “Brothers in Arts” November 12 at Shubert Theater

    The New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) will celebrate Veterans Day with a WWII-inspired musical journey at Brothers in Arts on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 7:30pm at the Shubert Theater. Led by NHSO music director William Boughton, the concert program will feature Brothers in Arts, co-written and performed by 2015 Artist-in-Residence Chris Brubeck and French jazz musician Guillaume Saint-James, as well as Aaron Copland’s Quiet City featuring NHSO principal trumpet Rich Clymer and NHSO principal oboist Olav van Hezewijk.
