The New Haven Symphony Orchestra shares our outrage and sadness over the ongoing violence committed against communities of color across our nation recently and throughout history. We stand in solidarity with all of those who are protesting today.

The winning song will be orchestrated by award-winning composer Bert Dovo and the new work will be performed by the New Haven Symphony as a tribute to front line workers on our first concert next season.

As part of its ongoing #MakeFlorenceFamous campaign, the New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) will showcase the music of Florence Price at Dvořák & Price on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 7:30pm in Woolsey Hall. Led by music director Alasdair Neale, the concert will feature Dvořák’s Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104 played by Oliver Herbert, Florence Price’s Symphony No. 1 in E minor, and Rossini’s William Tell Overture.

The event will celebrate the NHSO’s continued contributions to its community: artistic excellence, education, innovation, and a storied history. Festivities will include live musical performances, a curated cocktail hour, a gourmet dinner, and decadent desserts, plus live and silent auctions.

The New Haven Symphony Orchestra’s “Holiday Extravaganza” typically is one of the year’s most popular and lively events, and this year’s trio of concerts will make a little history, too.

New Haven Symphony Orchestra Principal Cellist Rebecca Patterson is one of just five orchestra musicians from across the U.S. who will receive Ford Musician Awards for Excellence in Community Service from the League of American Orchestras at the League’s 74th National Conference.
